Anna was diagnosed while 6 1/2 months pregnant.

Last April, Komen North Jersey received a call from Ana Harper, diagnosed with triple-negative breast cancer in 2013 (at age 39), while she was 6-½ months pregnant with her third child. She said she had a donation for Komen. Her 12-year-old daughter Hanah, a student at St. James the Apostle School in Springfield, had overheard her parents discussing the mounting medical bills for Ana’s treatment. Without telling her mother, Hanah took action.  She organized a one-month Ribbon Pledge Campaign at her school to raise money to ‘help pay mom’s medical bills. Right before Spring break, she gave her mother an envelope with her mother’s name on it, which Ana assumed was a note from her daughter’s school. Inside, was a check for $600. Ana and her husband presented the check to Komen, to invest in research and the future of others. Like daughter… like mother…
