Meet Charlene Gungil, DHsc, CPM

Dr. Charlene Gungil is the Director and Health Officer for the County of Passaic. As a longtime public health administrator and advocate, she is the chief executive officer of the health department. She is also an instructor of public health at the William Paterson University. Dr Gungil is the Vice-Chair of the Health Coalition of Passaic County, President of the Passaic County Public Health Partnership, trustee of the Partnership for Maternal and Child Health of Northern NJ: Passaic County Food Policy Council, North Jersey Health Collaborative, the Northwest Regional Health Coalition – Urban Area Security Initiative and a number of other health and community-related organizations. Dr. Gungil is a graduate of Nova Southeastern University, the former UMDNJ School of Public Health (now Rutgers), Montclair State, and William Paterson University. She is an NJDOH Health Officer and Registered Environmental Health Specialist. Dr. Gungil has special interests in environmental epidemiological investigations, global health, teaching, mentoring, disaster preparedness and management.
