More than 5,000 are expected to be on site for the Eighth Annual Komen North Jersey Race for the Cure® on Sunday, May 3, 2015, at Essex County South Mountain Recreation Complex, West Orange. The event raises funds and awareness for the breast cancer movement celebrates survivorship, and honors those who have lost their battle with the disease.

Structured to be a fun, family-friendly experience, Race Day highlights include:

  • 5K USTAF Timed Race
  • 5K Walk, 1.5 mile Fun Walk
  • Special Survivor Celebration
  • NEW Sponsor Race Village,  giveaways, and more
  • NEW Kids for the Cure® Color Run
  • “visitors” from the Turtle Back Zoo, jousting demonstration by Medieval Times, and strolling entertainers

JLP-home-bannerAfter the Race, there is plenty to do with dining at McLoone’s, ice skating at Codey Arena, the Turtle Back Zoo, Safari Mini Golf, a new state-of-the-art family playground, TreeTop Adventure ziplining course, paddle boats, a walking trail and more—all easily accessible from the Race site.

The Komen Race is unique in that 100 percent of the net proceeds are allocated to Komen’s mission—up to 75 percent remains here in northern New Jersey to help fund local community programs that offer breast cancer screening, breast health/breast cancer education, patient navigation, and treatment support to underserved women and men in the Affiliate’s 9-county service region. The remaining 25 percent is directed to national research programs aimed at finding new and better treatment options, and ultimately, the causes and cures to eradicate breast cancer forever.  For information, to register, volunteer, start a team, or make a donation, visit, or call 908-277-2904.
